Extends Drain Intervals
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil can extend drain intervals far beyond those recommended for conventional oils. Its unique synthetic formulation and long drain additive system are very stable, resisting oxidation and neutralizing acids. AMSOIL ASL delivers the best possible engine protection, cleanliness and performance over extended drain intervals, reducing vehicle maintenance and waste oil disposal costs.

Maximizes Fuel Economy
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil is designed to maximize energy efficiency for improved fuel economy. Unlike conventional oils, its uniform molecular structure helps it flow more freely and reduce friction between metal surfaces. Anti-friction additives are included to further improve energy efficiency.

Reduces Engine Wear
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil provides outstanding anti-wear protection. It has excellent viscosity film strength to separate metal surfaces and robust anti-wear additives to further reduce wear in metal-to-metal contact regions for improved engine life.

Reduces Oil Consumption and Emissions
Evaporation (volatility) occurs when oil gets hot, causing high oil consumption and emissions. AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil has the lowest evaporation rate of the oils tested, making it the best at controlling evaporation related oil consumption and emissions (see chart below).

Excels in Extreme Temperatures
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil resists thermal (heat) breakdown better than conventional oils. It is heavily fortified with detergent and dispersant additives to prevent sludge deposits and keep engines clean. And unlike conventional oils, AMSOIL ASL contains no wax. It stays fluid down to -60°F for improved cold temperature oil flow, reduced bearing wear and easier starting (see chart below). AMSOIL 5W-30 remains fluid at temperatures as frigid as -60°F (-51°C). It permits easy engine cranking for fast starts and in sub-zero temperatures flows to all engine parts much faster than petroleum motor oils. The exceptional cold temperature properties of AMSOIL 5W-30 provide immediate cold start lubrication, greatly reducing engine wear and prolonging engine life

Resists High Temperature Vaporization
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil resists vaporizing in the high temperatures that vaporize petroleum motor oils. AMSOIL 5W-30 remains a 5W-30, providing consistent high temperature protection, improved fuel economy and reduced oil consumption and emissions.

Resists Oxidation and Thermal Breakdown
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil resists the damaging effects of heat, blowby chemicals and oxidation up to 10 times longer than petroleum motor oils. AMSOIL 5W-30 resists forming varnish deposits and sludge. It doesn't thicken like petroleum oils, but continues to cool and lubricate, providing peak engine performance and extended drain intervals. In addition, the advanced heat transfer capabilities and high lubricity of AMSOIL 5W-30 reduce excessive operating temperatures of engines, transmissions and gear boxes, so they run cooler, cleaner and longer.

Provides High Shear Stability
AMSOIL 5W-30 surpasses the North American SAE and European ACEA oil specifications for high temperature/high shear (HTHS) viscosity. It doesn't shear back to a lower viscosity oil in the high temperature/high shear conditions of today's smaller, high RPM automobile engines. AMSOIL 5W-30 maintains an extremely protective viscosity of 3.5 cP at 302°F (150°C) in the ASTM D-4683 High Temperature/High Shear Test, far exceeding test limits of 2.9 cP..

5W-30 (ASL): API SN (Resource Conserving), SM…; ILSAC GF-5, GF-4…; ACEA A5/B5, A1/B1; Ford WSS-M2C946-A, WSS-M2C929-A; Chrysler MS-6395N; GM dexos1™ (supersedes LL-A-025, 6094M and 4718M) Fortified with detergents that exceed dexos1™ sulfated ash specifications.

MIXING AMSOIL
AMSOIL ASL is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils. Mixing AMSOIL motor oils with other oils, however, will shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motor oils.

SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic 5W30 Motor Oil is recommended for extended drain intervals in unmodified(1), mechanically sound(2) gasoline fueled vehicles as follows:

•Normal Service(3) – Up to 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

•Replace AMSOIL oil filter at 12,500 miles or six months, whichever comes first (other brands at standard OEM* intervals).

• Severe Service(4) – Up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first.

• Replace AMSOIL oil filter at 15,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first (other brands at standard OEM* intervals).

• In all other applications, extend the oil change interval according to oil analysis or follow the OEM* drain interval.
*OEM – Original Equipment Manufacturer

(1) Where the engine or operating conditions have been modified from the original manufacturers’ design, drain oil at the owner’s discretion or extend based on oil analysis. Examples include the use of performance computer chips; modified exhaust, fuel or air induction systems; and the use of fuels other than those recommended for normal operation by the manufacturers.

(2) Engines are in good working condition and within the factory design settings. Mechanically sound engines, for example, do not leak oil or consume excessive amounts, are not worn out, do not overheat, do not have internal or external anti-freeze leaks and have properly working emission control systems. AMSOIL recommends repairing malfunctioning engines prior to the installation of AMSOIL synthetic oils.

(3) Non-turbo/non-supercharged personal transportation vehicles frequently traveling greater than 10 miles at a time and not operating under severe service.

(4) Turbo/supercharged vehicles, commercial or fleet vehicles, extensive engine idling, first and subsequent use of AMSOIL engine oil in vehicles with 100,000 miles or greater, daily short trip driving (less than 10 miles), frequent towing, plowing or hauling heavy loads and frequent driving in dusty conditions.

AMSOIL full-flow oil filters are designed for extended drain intervals. They stop smaller particles, flow more oil and last longer than regular filters. For best performance, use AMSOIL full-flow oil filters.
