Many would find it difficult to believe but this system typically allows oil change intervals to exceed 100,000 miles when using AMSOIL.

NEWS - Briggs & Stratton partners with AMSOIL

Briggs & Stratton, the world’s largest manufacturer of small engines, approached AMSOIL for help.  Their goal was to produce a synthetic racing oil for their highest performance and most expensive engines used in kart, junior drag, quarter midget and other racing applications.  AMSOIL was specifically chosen because of our technical resources and quality reputation, and we delivered technology that exceeded expectations.

This new oil is sold exclusively through AMSOIL dealers and the company has announced its availability in early 2012 for the upcoming racing season.  They have elected to boldly display an AMSOIL logo on the packaging to boost the credibility of the product.
See how AMSOIL solved the lubrication problem of the non-oilpressure lubrication system. I later learned that all racing oils failed the limitations of Briggs tests. Thus Amsoil was call upon to solve this issue.

Viscosity is the most important characteristic of a lubricant. Motorcycle gears create a shearing effect that causes permanent oil viscosity loss. This thinning effect reduces the oil's ability to prevent metal-to-metal contact and wear. AMSOIL OE Synthetic Motor Oils, fortified with friction modifiers, are designed to provide better fuel economy compared to conventional motor oils and reduce friction-related energy loss. It promotes proper operation of catalytic converters for optimum service life and low exhaust emissions. It is fortified with high levels of detergent and dispersant additives to resist sludge and carbon deposits, promoting clean operation for longer lasting engines.

An increasing number of vehicle manufacturers are recommending drain intervals beyond the traditional 3,000 miles with some recommending up to 12,000 miles with electronic oil monitoring systems. The high temperatures and tight tolerances common to motorcycle applications also affect viscosity. The High Temperature/High Shear (HTHS) Test (ASTM D-4683) measures a lubricant's viscosity under severe high temperature and shear conditions. The more resistant an oil is to high temperature viscosity loss, the better it protects, and even a HTHS difference of 0.1 cP makes a significant difference.

AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils exhibit higher HTHS viscosities than competing conventional and synthetic motorcycle oils. As seen in the graphs, AMSOIL Synthetic 20W-50 and 10W-40 Motorcycle Oils displayed the highest High Temperature/High Shear viscosities in their respective test groups, providing motorcycle engines and transmissions operating in the harshest conditions with superior protection against wear and viscosity loss and eliminating the need for separate gear case oils as recommended by some competitors.
